The Wako Building is the symbol of Tokyo’s swankiest neighborhood the – Ginza. The building sits at the north corner of Ginza’s central intersection – Ginza 4 chome – and its clock tower harks back to the days when the store was home to Hattori Tokei Ten, the watch maker now known as Seiko. The building architect was Jin Watanabe, who also planned the main building of Tokyo National Museum in Ueno. Bought by Wako in 1947, the building now sells jewelry, accessories, and designer apparel, all at classy Ginza prince. The Wako corner is also one of Tokyo’s more famous meeting places, with the clock tower chime part of the charm.
