Kyu Yasuda Garden

This smallish, now publicly owned garden sits almost next door to the Kokugikan sumo stadiam.
It was designed in 1691,but in the late 19th century passed into the possession of the family behind the Yasuda business conglomerate.
The pond in the garden used to take water from the nearby Sumida River, but that water saurce has now been replaced by an underground tank due to pollution in the river.
The beautifully created garden can be seen in just minutes, yet is a delightful spot to linger with a box lunch.
