“Ameya Yokocho” was established soon after the end of the World War Ⅱ. “Ame” is the Japanese word for candy, so “Ameya” is the Japanese word for candy shop.
Many stores here sell candy made made from potato starch. Others say that “Ame” is an abbreviation of “American.” American goods are sold . At the end of the year, this erea is crowded with people enjoying New Year’s shopping. It’s a paradise for bargain hunters and souvenir hunters.
